General Questions Before Surgery
Our EVELift® is a SMAS Facelift and Corset Neck Lift that reverses the signs of aging of the lower face and neck (jowls, jawline, neck, excess skin, and platysma bands). It achieves a natural pulled-together look, never appearing “over-pulled” or fake.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with a la carte IV sedation, administered and monitored by a our MD anesthesiologist.
EVELift® incisions are planned to follow natural curves so they’re hard to spot once healed. In most patients, small openings are hidden along the hairline and inside the tragus in front of the ear, and a second line runs behind the ear and into the posterior hairline. These paths allow Dr. Charafeddine to lift the SMAS layer and refine the jawline/neck while keeping scars discreet.
Every face is different, so your exact markings are customized to your hairline, skin, and goals and are reviewed with you before surgery. Early on, incisions may look pink; with time and proper care they typically fade and blend into surrounding contours.
See the diagram below for a visual reference of typical EVELift® incision paths. Individual plans can vary.
There is no specific age, as soon as you see changes in the lower face that bother you is a good time to think about it.
The recovery period varies for each individual. Many patients feel comfortable after a few days, with minimal pain that is often manageable with over-the-counter Tylenol. Returning to virtual meetings is common within 3–5 days, while in-person meetings can typically resume after your 7-day stay in Miami, provided they do not involve physical activity or heavy lifting. Be sure to discuss your specific recovery plan with our care team for personalized guidance.
We require that patients refrain from all nicotine products, including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, nicotine gum, patches, and marijuana, for at least 6 months before and after the procedure to reduce the risk of complications.
Patients feel some tightness, and usually just Tylenol is needed after the procedure.
Eyes and Brows
The goal of upper eyelid surgery is to address excess skin that may cause a tired or heavy appearance. The procedure is designed to rejuvenate the eyes while maintaining their natural shape. We make sure we do not alter the anatomy of the upper eyelid and we do not remove fat to make sure the patient does not get a hollow appearance.
A brow lift focuses on lifting the outer ends of the brows to reduce sagging. This creates a smoother transition between the brow and facelift areas, enhancing your overall appearance without altering eye shape.
The timing for eyelid surgery depends more on your concerns than your age. Patients noticing excess eyelid skin or puffiness in their twenties, thirties, or forties often seek this procedure. It’s also a great complement to other rejuvenation treatments like facelifts.
Fat Transfer
Fat for facial transfer is taken from your body, commonly from areas like the inner thighs or around the abdomen as these are areas rich in stem cells.
The amount of fat injected depends on your specific goals and the areas treated. Dr. Charafeddine takes a conservative approach to achieve natural results and we never over inject. Swelling is normal after the procedure and subsides over time.
Discomfort varies by individual. Most patients report feeling tightness or swelling in the treated areas. The donor sites (e.g., thighs or abdomen) may feel mildly sore, similar to muscle soreness after exercise.
Common Post-Operative Questions
Our local anesthesia cocktail has a very powerful antibruise property. Most bruises fade within days to few weeks as the body naturally reabsorbs them.
Most patients resume their skincare routine, including medical-grade products, around 1 month post-op. Facials and microneedling can typically be resumed after 5–6 weeks.
Intense workouts are usually postponed for 6 weeks post-op to allow for proper healing.
Massages can generally be resumed at 4 weeks post-op, depending on your healing progress.
It is typically recommended to avoid sexual activity until at least 4 weeks post-op.
Breathable, mineral-based makeup may be used one month post-op.
